Robotics, involving both computer science and engineering, is the field of study which mainly focuses on the design, construction, operation, and use of robots. The purpose of robotics is to create machines that can aid and support people. Robots can be employed in a variety of contexts and for a variety of objectives, but many are now utilized in hazardous areas (such as radioactive material inspection, bomb detection and deactivation), manufacturing operations, or in conditions where humans cannot survive (e.g. in space, underwater, in high heat, and clean up and containment of hazardous materials and radiation).
The study of algorithmic processes, computational devices, and computing itself is known as computer science. Computer science as a field covers a wide variety of subjects, from theoretical studies of algorithms, computing, and information to practical concerns such as implementing computing systems in hardware and software.
