***Julius James Holland***

South Carolina. Black/mulatto.
Julius J. Holland was born in Georgetown, South Carolina to unknown parents. Julius registered as a student at the University of South Carolina on October 5, 1874. He entered in the college preparatory (or subfreshman) class but on the classical studies track of the college class by 1876. The university was closed before he finished his degree.
After the university closure, Julius attended Atlanta University but he left in 1879 without completing his degree. At Atlanta University, he studied with other former students from the University of South Carolina (John Lewis Dart, Jacob Javan Durham, Edward Johnson Stewart, Thomas Francis Parks Roberts, and Philip G. Drayton).
According to a listing of former Atlanta University students, after he left school, Julius moved North for work and died around 1908.
