The Office of the Inspector General performs periodical, random, and complaint-based audits and reports independently from the oversight of the Attorney General. Anyone may request OIG action by making a ticket in the Office Communications Server.

The Audits Division conducts independent and objective reviews of Department of Justice programs and operations to promote efficiency, accountability, and integrity. Through financial, performance, and compliance audits, the division identifies risks, assesses program effectiveness, and provides recommendations to improve DOJ operations and safeguard public resources.
The Investigations Division is responsible for examining allegations of criminal wrongdoing and administrative misconduct by DOJ employees, contractors, and grantees. This includes investigations into fraud, abuse of authority, civil rights violations, and other serious misconduct. The division works closely with prosecutors and other oversight bodies to ensure accountability and uphold public trust in the Department of Justice.
