This project highlights institutional initiatives that strengthen drug prevention and public awareness through community engagement and coordinated implementation. The focus is aligned with the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) mandate of reducing drug abuse through awareness-building and strengthened institutional response.
The initiative supports structured prevention efforts by promoting awareness, strengthening stakeholder coordination, and encouraging evidence-informed prevention practices. The programme approach aligns with internationally recognised prevention frameworks emphasising “what works” in prevention systems and effective national prevention planning.
My responsibilities within this work stream include:
Supporting prevention-focused coordination and public engagement activities
Facilitating training and capacity development initiatives for prevention workforces
Contributing to institutional documentation, reporting, and communication support
Promoting consistent awareness messaging and stakeholder collaboration

The implementation approach emphasises structured planning and workforce development, guided by prevention science and internationally recognised curricula such as the Universal Prevention Curriculum (UPC).
Today, I had the opportunity to visit a rehabilitation center on behalf of the Narcotics Control Department. It was inspiring to see the resilience and determination of individuals overcoming addiction.
Our collective efforts in substance abuse prevention are crucial for building a healthier, drug-free society. Let’s keep working together for positive change.
