Tree & Shrub Planting Tips

Remember!

Call 811 before you plant to have your utilities marked.
We suggest you have your soil tested before you plant. (Soil tests are available at your county Penn State Extension.)
Plant trees & shrubs in a location proper for their soil preferences.
Plant trees & shrubs in a location proper for their FINAL GROWTH height and width (not for how big the plant is now).
Plant trees as quickly as you can.
Water trees daily (about a gallon of water each), and water all sides of the tree.
Put rocks around the OUTSIDE of the tree tube to help eliminate critters from eating the roots and to protect the soil next to the tree while watering.
Don't forget to put the bird netting on the tree tube (you will get a net at the event).
PLEASE return your tree pots to Camelot Park. A bin is in the parking lot for you to drop off. The more pots you return, the less money spent on buying new pots next year, which mean more FREE TREES!
