Effective date: July 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Uppercut ("the App," "we," "us") handles information when you use our iOS boxing training application. We built Uppercut to work entirely on your device - this policy reflects that design.
The short version: Uppercut does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. Camera video used for punch detection is processed on your device in real time and is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. All your app data (name, stats, settings) stays on your device.
Uppercut uses your device's front-facing camera to detect your punches and movements in real time during training. This camera feed:
Is processed entirely on your device using on-device motion detection.
Is never recorded, saved, uploaded, or transmitted to us or any third party.
Is not accessible to us in any form - we have no server that receives video or images from your device.
Exists only in memory while the camera is active during a training session, and is discarded immediately after each frame is analyzed.
The App may ask you to enter or select the following during onboarding or in Settings. This information is stored only locally on your device (via iOS's standard on-device storage) and is never transmitted to us or any third party:
A display name (optional, defaults to "Boxer")
Your stance (Orthodox or Southpaw)
Training preferences - frequency, experience level, goals, weaknesses, preferred workout types, and where you train
App settings - sound, haptics, voice coach, and difficulty preferences
Custom combos you create ("Create Your Combo")
To show your progress, the App locally records:
Session counts, punch counts, streaks, and best scores
Level and training-path completion
Daily activity history used to display charts within the App
This data is generated by your use of the App and stored only on your device. It is never uploaded to us.
Uppercut does not collect, and has no mechanism to collect:
Your name, email, phone number, or contact list (beyond the optional in-app display name described above)
Precise or approximate location data
Photos or videos from your camera roll
Health or fitness data from Apple Health or other health platforms
Device identifiers used for cross-app tracking or advertising
Browsing history or data from other apps
Because all data described above is stored locally on your device, it is used solely to operate the App on that device — for example, to remember your stance so training drills are mirrored correctly, or to show your streak on the Home screen. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics dashboards, or any purpose beyond running the App on your device.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties, because we do not receive it in the first place - it never leaves your device.
Uppercut uses the following open-source software library, bundled directly into the App:
Component
Purpose
Data Collected
Lottie (Airbnb)
Renders animated illustrations within the App (e.g., loading screens)
Uppercut does not integrate any analytics SDK, advertising SDK, or crash-reporting service that transmits data off your device.
If Uppercut offers in-app purchases or subscriptions (currently or in a future update), those transactions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store's standard purchasing system. We do not receive or store your payment details, billing address, or card information - this is handled exclusively by Apple in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy. We may receive non-identifying confirmation that a purchase was completed, solely to unlock the corresponding feature on your device.
All information described in Section 1 is stored using iOS's standard local on-device storage (UserDefaults), sandboxed to the App by iOS itself. It is:
Never transmitted over the network by the App.
Protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, and iOS app sandboxing).
Included in your device's iCloud/iTunes backup only if you have backups enabled at the iOS system level - this is standard iOS behavior for all locally stored app data, not something Uppercut initiates independently.
Camera access: You can grant or revoke camera permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Uppercut. The App cannot function in training modes without it, but revoking access does not delete any data because none was collected.
Reset Progress: In Profile → Settings, you can wipe your stats, streaks, and level completion while keeping your name and preferences.
Delete Everything: In Profile → Settings, you can permanently erase all data stored by the App on your device — including your name, stance, preferences, and all statistics — and return to the onboarding flow.
Uninstalling the App: Deleting Uppercut from your device removes all locally stored data associated with it, in accordance with standard iOS behavior.
Uppercut is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the App does not transmit personal data anywhere, no data is knowingly gathered from any user, including children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us using the details below so we can assist — though as no data leaves the device, there is generally nothing for us to delete on our servers.
Since Uppercut does not transmit or store personal data on any server, there is no cross-border transfer of your personal information by us. Your data stays on your device, wherever you are located.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality (for example, if a future update introduces optional cloud sync or analytics). Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. If a future change would materially affect how your data is handled, we will make that change clear at the top of this policy.
Depending on your location, you may have rights under data protection laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because Uppercut does not collect or store personal data on any server, we generally hold no personal data to act on for such a request - all data resides solely on your device and is fully within your control via the in-app tools described in Section 5. If you have questions about how this applies to you, please contact us below.
