Rooting For Native Plants
An environmental conservation education group working to spread the word - and stop the spread - of invasive species with encouragement about importance of native species. Our focus is on improving areas in Huntington, Miami and Wabash Counties with multiple hands-on education and volunteer opportunities.
UWIN is a committee of Friends of Upper Wabash Interpretive Services, 501(c)3.
The UWIN hosts multiple Weed Wrangles around our 3 county region each year at different public sites. At each Weed Wrangle participants are educated on invasive species identification, how to control invasive species, and hands on removal of invasive species. Typical programs are 2-hours, with the majority of the time spent removing invasive species at the location.
We are happy to once again have a native plant sale put on by the UWIN!
This year only shrubs and trees will be available for pre-order on our Lafontaine Lions Website or see form below to look at our selection.
Do you live in Huntington, Miami, or Wabash County? Do you have invasive species like honeysuckle, autumn olive, or bradford pear on your property? If you said yes to both questions click below to get information on how to get up to 3 native plants to replace your 'removed ' invasives!!
