The main medium of my work is digital art and mixed media. In my projects, I love to explore with different equipment and tools to see how it will work with my theme and how I can build on it, as I feel like it really helps with my idea generation and development. My favourite parts of a project are the beginning and end, I enjoy figuring out what I want to do relating to the theme and also seeing the outcomes at the end, where ideas have come to life.
For this project, I decided to create a children’s book inspired by Eric Carle. I felt water and the sea related to harmony, and also the animals that coexist. I focused on mixed media in this project as I wanted to create natural and unique patterns deriving from water and other media.
My design was chosen by Lightworks and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen to be part of the illuminations on the promenade. I was aiming for a funky, kid-friendly and brightly coloured design that would catch attention.
In this project, I wanted to show my living areas and focus on the lights and shadows, which I was inspired to do by Edward Hopper. I started this project with traditional painting, but changed to digital painting with realistic paintbrushes as the outcomes came out better and more lifelike.
