Spring Painting Party March 15th - Join us!
Hi! My name is Jacqueline, but most call me Jackie. I have been making art since I was very young. My grandmother taught me a lot with her artistic abilities then through my public school education I began to learn more and more. I remember taking extra classes after school with my middle school teacher because I couldn't get enough of art! We didn't have an art studio with courses near me, so I made do with what I had in front of me. I taught myself some things, but relied on my amazing teachers throughout my education experience to steady me and propel me deeper. My time in college receiving my associates degree made me even more hungry to learn art and educate those around me. I was going to teach in a public school, but life happened and I decided that wasn't right for me. The Lord spoke to me about using my education to teach art classes to all ages one day. That day and time is now! This has been a dream in the making for well over 5 years. I'm thrilled to see Uplifting Depictions in a building with many interested in learning the fundamental art form that has kept me stable alongside Jesus and my many other ventures these past ten years.
Growing up with a single mom who didn't have much money was hard, but we did the best we could. I had lower priced art supplies, but they did just as well as the expensive ones I used at school. My motto is you don't have to break the bank to be an artist. Doing what you love shouldn't cost you a house and a half! My courses are designed to teach students vital skills and techniques without killing their credit card. Throughout class, I will talk about various famous artists to help students understand origins of the art they are creating. I want all who visit a course with Uplifting Depictions to gain a true grasp on techniques they can use to continue creating art for years to come without restraint or lack of knowledge. Sound like a good fit? Check out our "learning events" tab to start making art with us today!
I've been teaching art to all ages for well over five years by hosting events at my church, hotel event centers, and multiple other areas. After working with multiple age levels including homeschool groups and public schools as a mentor, I have found where I belong. I am thrilled to continue educating the public through a storefront I never imagined possible. I am motivated and dedicated to helping everyone gain the stress relief opportunity that helped me get through several rough moments in my life. Art has a lot of benefits and it's a great escape. See more about how art affects the brain here. ↓
If you are nervous to take a course, stop in! We don't mind spectators so long as our artists can continue to move and function as normal. I'm willing to work with you so long as you are willing to try something new. I've taught people who claimed they were unteachable. It may take time and be difficult, but anyone can create art, they just have to discover their style and which medium fits them. If you aren't good at drawing, try sculpture or painting! Each medium has diverse benefits and when used together in mixed media or multimedia the artist is able to render and image that is complex and put together in unity to evoke emotion and cause viewers to think. Which attending University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, the Chancellor at the time Gary Miller, and his lovely wife Georgia Miller, selected my art piece out of hundreds of other artwork for their prized award. I was awarded a scholarship and given a dinner, during which my family and other important staff within and outside of the art department attended. I was only a sophomore! The Peacock Pattern - seen left was hung in the chancellors office for the entire school year. It was an amazing accomplishment in college, one that shaped my career as a person and artist for sure. Special thanks to Minkyu Lee at UWGB for teaching me how to paint with gouache paint and the Millers for purchasing my artwork and giving me a start I won't soon forget.
