Welcome to the Intelligent Hybrid Robotics Lab at the University of York. We aim to design, develop, and apply novel robotics solutions to current challenges. We also aim to realise a future that will enable safe robots in human-shared environments.
Welcome to the Intelligent Hybrid Robotics Lab at the University of York. We aim to design, develop, and apply novel robotics solutions to current challenges. We also aim to realise a future that will enable safe robots in human-shared environments.
To realise our aim, our research focuses on discovering and making progress in the following technologies,
Novel sensors: We design novel sensors and sensing solution and their applications in robotic proprioception, human-robot interaction and novel interface devices.
Robotic control: We design and apply state-of-the-art control techniques for soft/rigid robots. This includes the application of modern model-based control such as Model Predictive Control (MPC) and more established classical control methods, including Sliding Mode Control (SMC), and distributed PID Controllers.
Applied Machine Learning: we apply machine learning for sensor fusion, regression, and decoupling multi-modal sensors. Â We also use machine learning to enhance control performance of modern robots.
Novel Grippers: we develop novel grippers with proprioception for grasping applications in extreme environments.
Hybrid Robots: we design, develop and control next-generation robots with soft and rigid properties.
