The University of Oregon offers a broad array of majors and minors in the sciences. Here are a few you may not have heard of that combine interests in various scientific fields:
Multidisciplinary science major - this major allows you to design your own academic path if you have interests that span departments. Majors take a wide range of lower division science courses and then choose two fields as their emphasis areas for upper division coursework. This major works well for students planning on teaching, entering a health profession, or who are curious about the intersection of disciplines.
Science communication minor - this relatively new minor in the School of Journalism and Communication brings together students from all majors to research and practice communicating science to members of the public and other scientists. Science communication is essential for conveying findings, informing policy, solving global issues, and so much more. The minor requires six courses, three of which are elective science courses, so students majoring in a science may only need to take three classes in the journalism department to earn the minor.
Bioengineering minor - the Knight Campus now offers a minor in bioengineering for undergraduate students. The minor includes coursework in innovative technologies, hands-on experience in labs, a chance to meet with Knight Campus faculty, and prepares students for future careers in industry or medicine.
