Polyurethane foam

Seat pad

Polyurethane foams (PUF) has a good formability and light weight, and are widely used in various industries such as automobiles.

PUFs having excellent static comfort and dynamic comfort are used for a comfortable ride of drivers required in the automobile.

generally, the comfort properties of seat pad required in automobile is represented by hysteresis loss and sag factor.

In order to improve the comfort properties, the molecular structure of the material is mainly modified.

Polyurethane foam

Sound absorption material

Flexible polyurethane (FPU) foams are widely used as sound absorption materials of automobiles because of the light weight, ease of production and high sound absorption efficiency.

The high sound absorption coefficient of FPU foams derives from the unique porous cell structure.

Therefore, it is important to have fine cell morphology of FPU foams. NSAL is now doing a research on achieving high sound absorbing performance of FPU foams and has published several papers.

Shape memory elastomer

Shape memory elastomer is a smart material with wide range of applications owing to its shape memory effect (SME) and useful mechanical properties.

SME is the ability to fix a temporarily deformed shape and recover its original shape through external stimuli.

The properties can be analyzed with DMA, DSC, UTM, etc.
