HEALTH I COURSE SUMMARY:

Health I is a semester course designed for middle school students that follows Utah’s Core Standards to help them build the knowledge and skills needed for lifelong wellness. Students will explore six key strands: Health Foundations and Protective Factors, Mental and Emotional Health, Safety and Disease Prevention, Substance Abuse Prevention, Nutrition, and Human Development. Through engaging lessons, they will learn to set SMART health goals, make informed decisions, develop resilience, and advocate for themselves and others. Topics include managing emotions and stress, preventing injury and disease, resisting peer pressure related to substance use, making healthy food choices, and understanding human growth, relationships, and boundaries. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the tools to make positive choices, protect their physical and mental health, and contribute to the well-being of their communities

A Note to Parents:

 This course has human sexuality units that may be included. In accordance with state and district policy students must have parent/guardians approval to be opted into this content.
