Applications for SPRINT 2025 were open from April to May this year, and we received a record high of 662 applications from high school students across the GTA! We are very grateful for everyone's interest and all who have applied!
This year, we selected 60 applicants to participate in the program, with 40 joining the Research Stream and 20 joining the Lecture Stream. Given this program is student- and trainee-run, 60 is the maximum capacity we can accommodate at this time. However, we are looking to expand our program to the other two University of Toronto campuses in the future, so we hope to increase our number of acceptances in the future too!
If you were selected to participate in this summer's program, congratulations and we are so excited to have you join us! Please follow our acceptance email for the next steps.
If you were not selected, please know the result was not indicative of your application quality; but rather the result of our lottery system to ensure all strong, prioritized candidates have an equal chance at joining the program. You are always welcome to apply again next year if eligible and interested, and your application as a previous applicant will be prioritized in the process to recognize your continued interest!
With SPRINT 2025 ramping up, we look forward to sharing more news from now until August. For any questions about your application or SPRINT 2025, feel free to email uoftpsycomm@gmail.com to learn more!

Today marks the end of SPRINT 2024 and our team would like to thank everyone who applied for, participated in, volunteered for, and supported our program this year!
To recap, from July 15-26, we hosted 18 lectures and data blitz presentations, 7 tutorials, 4 panels, and 9 research project meetings for 54 high school participants (40 Research Stream and 14 Lecture Stream). Our 40 Research Stream participants further developed and delivered 8 university-level research proposals and presentations in groups of 5 that you can view on our Past Projects page!
We would like to say a massive thank you to our 34 graduate students and post-docs, 13 undergraduate students, and 7 faculty and staff members at U of T, as your work for SPRINT is invaluable to our success! You can view the names of our SPRINT 2024 Team on our Team page.
That's a wrap for SPRINT 2024 and we look forward to SPRINT 2025 next summer!

SPRINT has been awarded the Access Program University Fund (APUF) at the University of Toronto to achieve our upcoming program goals and further contribute to broadening access to postsecondary education for underrepresented students!

After reviewing over 320 applications, we selected 60 participants for SPRINT 2024, including Research Stream participants and 20 Lecture Stream participants. Congratulations to our selected applicants!
For our waitlisted applicants, please don't be discouraged! We wish to remind everyone that not being selected in the application process is not indicative of your application quality. Instead, we made this decision with a heavy heart, as our program capacity is limited and application results are often determined by the priority criteria and the lottery draw. We strongly recommend all eligible participants to re-apply in the future, as we highly value continued interest in our program!
Although the application selection process has come to an end for SPRINT 2024, we would like to highlight that we also received a record number of students using AI (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly) to write and/or edit their applications. We decided to be relatively lenient with applications that used AI this application cycle due to unclear statements from our program at this time. However, as a program affiliated with the University of Toronto—an institution which highly values academic integrity and innovation—we strongly advise all students to use their own ideas and words in future applications. We will also be working with University of Toronto staff to devise a set of policies regarding AI use in our program.
Thank you all for your interest in SPRINT 2024! In the meantime, don't hesitate please email us at uoftpsycomm@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns about your application!

If you have any questions in the meantime, please email us at uoftpsycomm@gmail.com. Thank you!
