SPRINT wishes to acknowledge this land on which the University of Toronto operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, the meeting place of SPRINT is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land. We encourage all visitors of this website to explore the Indigenous history of the places where they live and work by visiting https://native-land.ca/.
SPRINT strives to be an equitable and inclusive community, rich with diversity, protecting the human rights of all persons according to the Ontario Human Rights Code, and based upon understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and worth of every person.
We believe that excellence flourishes in an equitable and inclusive learning environment, and we intend to present materials and activities that are respectful of diverse identities.
We also acknowledge our imperfections, and encourage and appreciate your suggestions. Please let us know ways to improve the effectiveness of this experience for you, other students, or other student groups in both the present and the future.

Over the SPRINT 2024 application cycle, we received a record number of students using AI (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly) to write and/or edit their applications, as flagged by an AI detection tool. We decided to be relatively lenient with applications that used AI this application cycle due to unclear statements from our program at this time. However, as a program affiliated with the University of Toronto — an institution which highly values academic integrity and innovation, we strongly advise all students to use their own ideas and words in future applications. We will also be working with University of Toronto staff to devise a set of policies regarding AI use in our program.
In the meantime, please visit https://security.utoronto.ca/framework/guidelines/use-ai-intelligently/ on recommendations set out by the University of Toronto on how to use artificial intelligence ethically and intelligently.
