How do we effectively learn Japanese with VR?

I have never used VR before, but I have heard many things about it and how it helped many people experience things they would not be able to in their normal situations (i.e. having patients use VR to experience the outside world). Now, speaking of VR and Japanese, it can be useful because I can also experience the outside world. Instead of learning material that is only in the textbook, I would be able to experience what it is like in Japan or talk to an actual person in Japanese. It would allow all my senses to become more active when learning. I also do believe that the more senses that are involved when learning, the easier people will remember. (That is why speaking and writing things down when learning is usually better than just listening). Being able to involve our senses and give us "real-life" experience should be able to increase our ability to remember different vocabulary, grammar points, and overall help us learn this language.

What are VR's pros and cons?

Pros:

I think the largest pro is that we are able to experience things "more" in a more "real" way. Using VR is similar to going to a new country to learn, except just in the comfort of your home. This allows us to understand what it feels like in a Japanese setting.

Learning on VR also gives you the ability to make mistakes, since Mondly will help you out when you make mistakes. It's like a guide that can help you out on your way.

Cons:

Although VR is very involving, it is still not the same as being in Japan. I'm sure it gives you many similarities, but it would still be a bit different than if you were in Japan learning the language with others.

In addition, Mondly may give you explanations or talk in a very formal way, but if you were talking to Japanese people, it may be easier to learn more slang or words that Japanese people would use.

Lastly, VR in the end is still VR so it is clear that we are not in a real place. Maybe a few years later when the technology is even more advanced, we wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but for now, we know it is different, which could affect the way we learn.

Do you have any concerns?

I really like how the view is 360 degrees. However, I find it very difficult to use with glasses on. I know there is a glasses spacer, which I used, but it is still very uncomfortable to wear the VR set with glasses.
