Awards Available
Each committee will select delegates for the following awards:
Best Delegate (1)
Outstanding Delegate (1)
Honourable Mention (1-3 depending on committee size)
Best Position Paper (1)
Note that a delegate may not receive more than one award.
Awards Criteria
For “best position paper,” the following criteria are used to determine the award recipient: Understanding of topics, accurate country position, effective plans of action, good overall research, and proper diction.
For “honourable mention,” “outstanding delegate,” and “best delegate,” the following criteria are used:
Participation: Contribution to the committee, speech frequency, and working paper contributions,
Diplomatic skills: Leadership in committee, negotiation skills, and resolution writing,
Knowledge: Understanding of committee topics, country background and positions, and foreign policy accuracy,
Good style: Speaking style, rhetorical skills, good use of MUN procedure, and civility of conduct.
In Crisis committees, additional criteria are used:
Crisis reaction: Responding rapidly and effectively to crisis updates and leading the committee to solve issues in committee
Backroom conduct: Demonstrating strong private directive writing skills with creative and effective solutions
