The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is a United Nations committee that works in over 190 countries to save the lives of children, defend their rights and aid them in their development from childhood to adulthood. Within Topic A, delegates will discuss the protection of children in the context of armed conflicts and the concern of child militarization; Tackling the root of children’s involvement within armed conflict itself from poverty to forceful recruitment. Topic B delves into the issue of the global learning crisis, observing the faults within different educational systems as well as the impacts of Covid-19 on learning.

The DISEC committee will tackle some of the most pressing global security challenges today, including terrorism, cyber threats, and rising extremism. Delegates will explore issues like terrorism in the Middle East and South America, the dangers of cyberterrorism and online trafficking, and the need to rethink U.S. peacekeeping efforts. Case studies like Venezuela’s cyber struggles, the ongoing guerrilla warfare in Asia (with examples from Rwanda and the DRC), and the rise of extremist ideologies will guide the conversation.
The committee will focus on finding effective solutions to combat these threats, from improving peacekeeping missions to countering radicalization. Delegates will discuss both military and non-military strategies, emphasizing regional cooperation and long-term peace-building efforts.
