Join the Laboratory for Battery Research & Innovation (LBRI)
We are always looking for motivated researchers to join our team at the School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW Sydney. LBRI works at the forefront of battery energy storage, spanning solid‑state batteries, aqueous zinc-ion batteries, Li-metal batteries, Na-ion batteries, operando electrochemistry, and unveiling structure-function relations in battery materials. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of battery science and contributing to high‑impact research, we would love to hear from you.
Postgraduate Research Opportunities (PhD & MPhil)
UNSW offers a wide portfolio of competitive scholarships for both domestic and international Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates. These include:
Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship — AUD $39,206/year (2026 rate)
University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA) — covers tuition + stipend (aligned with RTP)
Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Research Training Program Scholarships — up to AUD $53,608/year
Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS) + Research Stipend (covered by supervisor)
UNSW / Home Country Joint Scholarships [e.g., CSC)
Note: RTP/UNSW scholarship stipends are periodically adjusted. The current latest published stipend is AUD $39,206/year (2026 rate).
