Mentorship Program

To be a part of our Mentoring Program, fill out our Membership Form or email us at ypoulsen@unr.edu. 

We invite everyone who supports the purpose of AWM to our meetings and to become a member of the chapter. We emphasize that the chapter is open to all genders and to both graduate and undergraduate students. 

UNR students who are formal AWM chapter members will be eligible for:

1.  AWM national membership. 

   • To sign up follow the steps outlined here.

2.  Our Mentorship Program:

   • The goal of AWM at UNR is to create a network of support for the women and underrepresented gender minorities, at all levels, who are studying math/stats at UNR. 

Our Mentorship Program provides mentoring opportunities to AWM members. Members who are interested in mathematics or are pursuing careers in mathematics are matched with mentors, of all genders. 

The Mentorship Program is designed to provide mentoring opportunities to girls, women, and gender non-conforming individuals and is available to active AWM members. Matching is based on common interests in careers in academics/industry and general mathematical interests.

Includes: 

1. Undergraduate students being mentored by a graduate students. 

2. Graduate students being mentored by a more advanced graduate students. 

3. Advanced graduate students being mentored by a faculty member who is not their advisor.
