A 19 Day Life-Changing Trip
China, which is in the neighbourhood of the Pamirs, recently initiated a transcontinental network and thus gave birth to a new Silk Road. The regions close to this network can offer their unspoiled mountainous territories, on both the Tajik and Afghan sides of Badakhshan, to visitors to admire its beauty. Despite these mountains containing precious and semi-precious gemstones like spinel, rubies and lapis lazuli (the source of the 170-carat Black Prince’s Ruby, the largest in the world, which is currently on the Imperial State Crown of England), you will not see any local wearing such luxuries.
This journey will take you to the high Tavildara Pass where you will see the serpentine road under your feet. The locals of Tavildara produce truly organic food and its honey is a sweet success story of the country. In this journey you will first travel into the life of local Tajiks before heading to Badakhshan to the Afghan border. You will have an opportunity to visit many villages of your choice on both sides of Badakhshan and you will be able to experience some traditional Afghan hospitality. You will stay in basic guest houses and learn new things from locals. Unlike back at home where you get water from the tap and boil it with one click of a kettle to make coffee, here the locals have to travel high to the mountains or down to the river shores to collect branches to make a fire to boil their water and make their tea. Despite all these hardships, the tea and food here are always made and offered with love. This trip will definitely recharge your soul and will remain a life-changing travel experience for the rest of your life.
