About the Union Star FFA Chapter

The FFA is an organization for students who are enrolled in agriculture education classes, who are interested in agriculture or who are interested in pursuing a career in the agriculture field, or in developing their leadership skills while in high school. Students who take an agriculture class are expected to become members of the FFA chapter. This is encouraged because of the many opportunities that FFA provides. FFA gives the students an opportunity to develop skills in leadership through public speaking and shows them how to lead a meeting and work with others. Students are also encouraged to join because of the state and national guidelines on programs. Due to agriculture education classes being an elective and students not being required to take an agriculture class, we ask all students pay dues and participate in fruit sales. We do not ask that all students actively participate in all activities, but by covering dues they are then eligible to participate in activities that they choose.

The FFA also competes in many different Career Development and Leadership Development events and allows members the chance to win awards for their Supervised Agriculture Experience programs (S.A.E.). Members have the opportunity to travel around the state and nation and exhibit animals and other projects at local, area, district, state, and national shows. Our local chapter takes part in many worthwhile activates each year. Some of these include our annual fruit sale, barnwarming, petting zoos, and many chapter trips, as well as recreational and educational events.

Our chapter was chartered December 1, 1988, and since then we have had some ups and downs, and we encourage you as a student to take part in our activities and to take agriculture classes and become and active member of the Union Star FFA Chapter. By being an active and participating member of the FFA you, will help to make the chapter stronger and will be helping to keep the good times rolling. If you have any questions about FFA or our program please contact Mr. Blaine Martin at school.

Union Star FFA 2020-2021 Membership Roster Includes 11 High School Students Grades 9-12.

The Chapter is currently working out the details for a Discovery FFA Chapter which will be for grades 7-8. We will post more information about this when we work everything out.
