The Founder

Mr. Abiola Oluwatosin Oluwafemi popularly known as Prof AB is the brain behind the establishment of Unicorn Design Academy.

Born on 27th January to the family of late Associate Professor Abiola-Falemu Joseph Ojo (NIOB) and TPL Mrs. Abiola-Falemu Adekemi Funmilayo hails from Iju Itaogbolu, Akure North local government, Ondo state. He had his basic certificate from The Federal University of Technology Staff Primary School in 2011 where he was the Janitor prefect and represented the school at few events within the university environment and Akure. proceeded for his high school education and had his Senior Secondary Certificate Examination at The Federal University of Technology Staff Secondary School in 2017 where he represented his class at the Student Representative Council between 2016 and 2017. He was also made the Chapel Prefect for his set and was the vice principal administration, a one day position during the yearly founder’s day. He also represented the school alongside some student at the Make A Difference (MAD) initiative, where the school got second position. As a social science student, he proceeded to the higher institution, The Federal University of Technology Akure

where he had his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design (Graphics option) with a second class upper grade from year 2018 to year 2024. Due to his love for academic and research, he became a graduate research assistant under the supervision of his

professors which he sees them as his mentor.

                WHY UNICORN DESIGN ACADEMY

It was first ideated as club to guide the juniors in the department on the right path of design tutoring them on the use of different software for designing and the path fit for them to venture in. However, in year 2020 during covid-19, he learnt more about entrepreneurship and education business due to the closure of schools. Not satisfied with the educational pattern and curriculum, he made up his mind to start his own academy different from the traditional way focusing on bridging the gap between academy and industry in design while focusing on practical intensive curriculum and research for impact.

The Pavilion

The pavilion is the administrative center of the academy that houses key officers for the smooth running of the academy. The pavilion is headed by the ceremonial and number one office of the academy which is the ‘PRESIDENT’.

The President

The president is the ceremonial head during functions within the academy, oversees the smooth running of the academy and represent the academy during internal or external events. The president is answerable to The Cabinet and Board of Trustees.

The Vice Presidents 

The vice presidents are responsible and answerable to the president and The Cabinet. They are the second in command and are important in the smooth running of the academy through their dedicated offices. The offices vice presidents are:

Office of the Vice President, Academic Affairs

The office is in charge of the smooth running of the Design School Hub and everything academic related. Also due to the structure of the academy, it fosters collaboration with

vice presidents.

Office of the Vice President, Research and Innovation Hub

The office is in charge of research based activities from the design school and other research programs organised and established by the academy which are aimed for impact. It could be between the academy and industries or government organisations, agencies.

Office of the Vice President, Professional and Advancement Hub

This office is in charge of professional development, career development and further studies such as postgraduate programs in collaboration with research and innovation hub. Expanding its scope, the office collaborates with the academy partners in the progress and growth of basic, high school and community growth and development offering variety of programs to meet their needs, strategically putting them on the right track.

Office of the Vice President, Strategy and Operations

This office is in charge of the administrative operations that aids the smooth running of the academy. It oversees variety of departments. The office is the secretary during The

Cabinet gathering.

Office of the Vice President, Partnership and Advancement

The office is in charge of fostering collaborations locally and internationally with institutions, industries and the academy alumni.

Office of the Vice President, Branding Communication and Engagement

This office is in charge of protecting the image of the academy and promoting it. The office oversees public engagement with the academy.
