Hey, Lovies!
Okay, so those that follow my Instagram @queen.chino_ already know that I am going to Sixth Form. Hence, why you should follow my Instagram account! However, I am contemplating what exactly I should name this post. Okay, so it's gonna be called "Should I go" however that's not for me so read the headline again and ask yourself.
Now for the real tea! I wanted to go to Sixth-form for three reasons.
It's a requirement for the universities I want to attend (wink...wink, I can't wait to explain later).
I need time to adjust to the type of learning experience university will give me and Sixth-form was the closest thing to that. As well as, I get another to build a hell of a resume to blow the lid off my college admissions.
I get to give my mom time to prepare for when I have to go to university.
Okay, so all of this was taken into consideration. Now if you are in grade 11 or 10 it is high time you look carefully into universities. Know what are the requirements and if Sixth-form will have to be a necessary step for you. Also, ask yourself objectively how ready emotionally, physically and financially are you for university. If not it's time to make a serious plan. Now the plan doesn't have to be Sixth-form, it can be trade school, internships, or even getting a job.
Something I want to talk about next is that "Not wanting further studies isn't a crime". Don't feel pressured into doing it. I wasn't pressured into it and though it's contradicting since I am doing further studies I am not judgemental. Everyone's path is different and some people are running from having student loans on their backs so do you.
Note: I am not saying that universities lead to guaranteed students loan debt because if you are smart you can leave owing to the bank nil.

Hey, Lovies!
The main thing to note right away is that CAPE subjects come with prerequisites. So the subjects you did in CSEC will determine the subjects you can do in CAPE. For the schools, I applied to they accept only 1s and 2s. Sixth-form as you know as of right now isn't mandatory so it's very competitive. So things like interviews are to be expected.
So, with that being said this is how I began to narrow down my subjects!
I went through all the subjects offered and found those that would be available to me based on my CSEC subjects
Communication Studies and Caribbean Studies are mandatory for each year group in sixth-form. So if you do Communication Studies in lower sixth-form then if you reapply for Unit 2 you must do Caribbean Studies and visa versa. Based on the school you apply to they can make it mandatory to do Communication Studies in Unit 1. You would then do it and three electives but others might allow you to choose in Unit 1 between Communication Studies or Caribbean Studies.
NO MATTER WHICH YOU CHOOSE YOU WILL NEED TO DO AT LEAST THREE ELECTIVES WITH IT!
I made a table of those I love or hate and those I saw as hard or easy. The ones with double positives were written down.
Now, look at what wasn't chosen and see if you need anything there. If not and you already have the three electives then that is your list. If you do need something there and you don't have all three electives add it to your list and make sure it doesn't pass four subjects.
NOW HERE IS THE SERIOUS PART!
If you have all three electives on your list and need a subject from what you left on the table as hard or you hate it then reconsider what you wrote down on your final list. Check if something you love or is easy has relevance to your future career. If it doesn't then you need to remove it. Fill it in with the hard subject or subject you hate. At the end of the day once you need it then it is now your priority and you will have to eventually love it.

Hey Lovies!
I was to get this done a whole lot earlier but I was busy with everything at school so I couldn't post but I am ready now.
The first week was a whole lot. Not that it was difficult to keep up or that I felt pariahed. It was really just the excitement of being in Sixth form. We got the ground work out of the way like the syllabus, exam orientation and IA preparation. We jumped into the content because at this point it was Wednesday, October 27, 2021 and that was the first day of actual classes. Of course we had orientation for school the day before but that's not content and we had a really late start to the semester.
I had gotten my timetable and invites to a few classes. It seemed like my name wasn't on all my teachers list so it took by the end of the week to get everything. Thankfully, the teachers had similar problems so I didn't miss anything. In my first day of classes for Tourism on Monday, November 1, 2021 my inicitative in creating the class whatsapp goup and being the first in completing the assignment that was given I got Subject Manager/Advisor.
I did well in my first week but I have some friendly advise for new students. Yes, you are new and don't know anyone but trust that because you are new you are a magnet for down right haters and a whole lot of 'friends'. The down right haters are easy to manage just stand up for yourself but never blow the simply things out of proportion. As for the 'frineds' just know not all of them are real and if you will be doing online school like me it's even harder to know but trust you're gut.
