Hey, Lovies!
I had to drop some subjects for my own well-being. In all honesty, I am a person that can't handle certain levels of stress so I had to look into that. Also, I didn't see the need to do subjects that I felt had no relevance to what I wanted to pursue. (Always consider its relevance and whether you can handle it is my advice to you).
Honestly, it felt weird telling my friends that I moved from 11 subjects to 8 but in reality, it's not about them, it's about me. I told my mom and she agreed to let me take the 8 I wanted. I was happy about that. Knowing your parent looks out for you and not the hype of 11 subjects at the child's own demise is a wonderful feeling!
If financial reasons are why you thinking to consider dropping the subject; I say don't. At least not yet! Find out if family or if friends of your parents can help. Work hard in the first place and find out if the Government could pay for 4 subjects based on your average in them. To my knowledge and experience, they pay for Mathematics, English, EDPM or Information Tech. and one science subject. Other companies and businesses offer to fund subjects so please check those out as soon as you can!
There was one I still wanted to do that I dropped but it's really hard since grade 10 started. I will talk more about that in another post!

Consider what you like and dislike - Take a moment to analyze your current subjects, then create a list of those that fit this description. This should make it easier to select subjects within your preference
Consider what is actually relevant to your career - Use online sources to find out the subject requirements for you to be accepted into your desired field
Consider your parent/s opinion and those of knowledgeable individuals - Inquire Information from an experienced person who can provide useful details on which specific subjects suit your career path and why. Also, keep your parent/s updated about your future plans as they may be able to give unexpected advice.
Consider the difficulty of the subject and whether the difficulty was worth it - You may need a subject that is difficult. Ask yourself "Am I willing to do what it takes to pass this subject?" If yes, choose the subject. Otherwise, it is wise to select what you are willing to perform in.
Consider the financial aspect of the number of subjects you chose - How many subjects is your parent/s able to afford with and without financial assistance.

Hey, Lovies!
No, I don't! I thought that maybe I would regret dropping French but I don't. I really wanted to learn languages and have them take me all over the world. However, I wasn't ready for French and French wasn't ready for me.
I loved the subject and I was extremely well at it. For the first three years of high school, I had averaged in the 90s for French. But as soon as grade 10 rolled around I had a 70 average at the end of the year. I was disappointed but it really was just too hard. I started to get lazy and just did the work well enough just to pass but nothing more.
For the other subjects I dropped, Religious Education and Family Resource Management, I just didn't need it. Family Resource Management specifically just had too many practicals which I knew would take too much out of my mom and as I said it just wasn't something I needed anyway.
So, it's safe to say that I didn't regret my decision!

Hey, Lovies!
I don't regret it, it's more like a wish! I wish that I could have done Principles of Accounts and Principles of Business as well. Maybe, I should have gone with the Business class my school had but I really did like the subjects in Humanities at the time. I'm going to pursue after CAPE or maybe during and that experience definitely has to be a blog post so stay tuned for that but right now I'm not sure when.
I have always been business-minded but now seeing where I am in life I am a lot more certain that business is what I should study. The Humanities subjects that I have I will just look at as a bonus. Right now, instead of saying I regret my choice, I am going to work with it and make the best of the choices I can make now.
If you were to find yourself wanting to do more subjects or wish you had chosen differently remember it's not too late. There isn't a time limit on when to achieve what you want and if there is one it's you who placed it there. Trust yourself and trust your process.

Take all the information here with a grain of salt. What works for me might not for you. I'm not encouraging you to drop subjects that you are passionate about or that will allow you to move on into the future you want. Don't make any rash decisions about dropping subjects.
ENSURE YOU CONSIDER EVERYTHING CAREFULLY!
