We bring Rust, Lugo, Kilmarnock, and Bursa straight to your home. Discover cultures, flavors, and languages – interactive, immersive, and without borders.
Our twin towns are far more than just names on a map. With CULTURE INSPIRES – FOOD CONNECTS, we are building a digital bridge between Kulmbach and our friends across Europe and the world.
We have reimagined the classic travel guide concept: combining a cookbook, travel guide, cultural encyclopedia, and language course into one interactive experience platform.
Welcome to our digital experience platform. We haven't simply listed our twin towns on a website – we have structured them into four acts that invite you to experience Rust, Lugo, Kilmarnock, and Bursa with all your senses.
We begin where life unfolds. In the first act, you accompany the people of Lugo through their authentic daily lives. Using an interactive timeline, you experience a "perfect day" in the city—from the morning bustle of the market to a relaxed evening tradition. You hear the sounds of the city, feel its atmosphere, and discover how sustainable, mindful exploration preserves a place's character.
In the second act, we turn our attention to the culinary identity of our partners. We select dishes that best embody the heritage and pride of each region. You receive not only authentic recipes but also learn—through video tutorials and sensory insights—how to prepare these culinary treasures sustainably at home. It is an invitation to taste the world through its flavors.
The third act moves from the individual to the collective. Here, we present an emotional promotional video revealing the invisible threads that connect Kulmbach with its partners. We show not typical tourism imagery, but rather people and the encounters they share. It is a plea for intercultural dialogue, demonstrating how prejudices are dismantled and how we work together toward a future that transcends borders.
For the grand finale, we open the "Culture Mirror." This is your gateway to understanding the subtle nuances of local identity. We decode unique festivals for you, provide a humorous "pocket-sized guide to local etiquette," and let you experience the sound of the local dialect and regional music through authentic audio recordings. In doing so, you gain insight not only into how people live here but also into what truly moves them.
You don't just want to see the world, you want to understand it. Discover our international Erasmus+ media project with the UNESCO-Club Kulmbach, uniting diverse cultures, languages, and voices into one shared rhythm.

This interactive knowledge portal is being developed as part of a group mobility project by the UNESCO-Club Kulmbach-Plassenburg e. V. within the European Erasmus+ program. We bring together people of different generations and backgrounds from the Kulmbach region to make the European idea tangible.
Networking Twin Towns: We are building digital and cultural bridges between Kulmbach and its twin towns, Lugo (Italy) and Bursa (Turkey). (The integration of Rust and Kilmarnock will follow in later project cycles).
Connecting Generations: In our intergenerational teams, young and old work hand in hand to combine traditional knowledge with modern ideas.
Building Skills for Participants: The project specifically promotes key qualifications in intercultural collaboration, applied digitalization (mobile working & media production), as well as nutrition and culinary sustainability.
A central factor of our success is the close cooperation with the University of Bayreuth. The project work takes place in four specialized working groups. Each team is academically guided by a student from the 7th Faculty at the Kulmbach Campus. Together, we explore regional food cultures and translate them into modern, trilingual media formats aligned with the UNESCO SDGs.
