Tonya Carlson
Tonya lives in Brewer, ME and is a MSW candidate at the University of New England. Prior to that, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Husson University. Tonya works full time at a therapeutic school in her area helping children gain an education, manage behaviors and get back to their original schools. Tonya also works part time as a behavioral health professional working on meeting behavioral goals in the home and community with a variety of clients and families. Tonya hopes this website will be a resource for those immigrants fighting for citizenship, and those individuals interested in learning more about immigration in the United States.
Stephanie McCarthy
Stephanie lives in Saint Albans, VT with her husband and 5 year old daughter. She is an MSW student at the University of New England. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Champlain College. Stephanie currently works in a residential program that supports adults with severe and persistent mental illness. She has previously worked as case manager for that population, as well. Stephanie's mother came to the United States at a young age, not knowing any english. Her mother eventually became a US citizen, after having a green card for 30 years. Stephanie is a part of creating this website because she believes in fighting the stigma attached to being an immigrant.
Kellie Kindrick
Kellie lives in El Paso, TX with her husband and 3-year-old daughter, and is an MSW student at the University of New England. She has an Associates’ degree in Administration of Justice from Santa Rosa Junior College, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from American Military University. Kellie is a veteran of the United States Army Military Police Corp. She was medically retired from the Army and is currently a stay-at-home wife and mother. Kellie hopes this website will provide pertinent information for not only immigrants, but Americans who desire to know more about the current immigration legislation being debated in Congress.
Jessica Basaldua
Jessica lives in Auburn, Maine with her 7-year-old daughter, and is an MSW student at the University of New England. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Social Behavioral Sciences, minor in Early Childhood Education, and a concentration in Counseling; from the University of Southern Maine. Jessica currently works as a Residential Care Social Worker at a local nursing home. She has previously worked as a case manager for the welfare and immigration populations. Jessica hopes this website will provide a voice for the immigration population and their continued fight to be here in America.
