Welcome Blackhawks fans!!!
It has been a while since we have posted here in Behind the Indian Head. This is the marquee event of this website so we apologize for the inconvenience. Blackhawks hockey has been going on for almost two weeks and Hawks fans have been treated to a boatload of extra time. The Hawks have went to overtime in everyone of their first 5 games. That is great, and horrible at the same time. Let’s take a look at what overtime games mean for the Blackhawks thus far.
On the one hand an overtime game is an overtime game where the Hawks secure more points. However it also secures the opposing team a point too. The Blues, central division rival to the Hawks, escaped the Blackhawks with 2 of a possible 4 points. The Blackhawks can not let division rivals forced overtime on them. Especially on games that they have the lead in going into the third. However having captured 8 out of a possible 10 points in the last 5 games, things are looking up for the Hawks, here are our key take always.
Captain Serious where have you been.
If Toews can keep this up throughout the year the Blackhawks will be unstoppable. Jonathan has been playing like how he use to in the old dynasty days. Captain Toews has one player to thank for his return to hockey, and it is not the guy they traded for by giving up Panarin. Alex Debrincat.
The Cat in the Red Sweater
Alex Debrincat has been the best part of the Chicago Blackhawks this season. Imagine a team with both him and Panarin, that would be unstoppable, thanks Bowman!
Debrincat has found a way to score in all situations, and he has brought Toews with him on his success train. Toews’s game is different this year, he has found a way to score and supplement his line in Debrincat in Kahun. Toews game has shifted. Trading for Saad was to bring back the power driven style of play that Toews Hossa and Saad all played together. However without Hossa that style has died on the Hawks top line. Debrincat brings a skilled shoot first level of play, focusing more on zone entry and passing compared to before, thanks to that Saad has found himself not he 4th line, we wish him the best of luck in pulling himself out of that hole.
Return of the Goalie
Goalie Corey Crawford has been missing since last December, and he is destined to return this week on Thursday against Arizona, if Corey comes back and plays like Corey the Blackhawks are going to be GREAT this year. However if Crow comes back and plays like a goalie that has not been on the ice since December, buckle your seatbet and keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle because the Hawks will be going on a roller coaster downwards.
