The NHL trade deadline, which occurs at the end of the month, will help separate the playoff teams from the draft championship teams. Many past Stanley Cup winners have made moves during the last week before the trade deadline to help cement their team.
Number 5 : Mike Hoffman LW
Mike Hoffman plays for the Ottowa Senators on a contract of 5.18 million until the 2019-2020 season. Hoffman would be a wonderful addition for any teams top 6, and at only 28 years of age, he could be an addition for a teams run this year and next year. Our sources say the St. Louis Blues and Columbus Blue Jackets have shown interest in Hoffman.
Number 4 : Evander Kane LW
Evander Kane, who currently plays for the Buffalo Sabres, does not have much playoff experience, but he still could be a great addition to a top 6 offense that wants to win a Stanley Cup. Kane at just 27 would be a great rental to help a team win. Teams interested at this point are the St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators, and Anaheim Ducks
Number 3 : Ryan McDonagh D
New York Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh is on his last year of a 4.7 million dollar contract. The Rangers, who are buying all in to a rebuild, want to get as much as they can for their captain on the back end. The Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning have shown interest in adding McDonagh to their teams blue line.
Number 2 : Rich Nash LW
Rick Nash is not in his prime anymore, and with a 7.8 million dollar contract, is not really worth the bill. However, Nash still has a very electric shot that can help any playoff team win. The Rangers would need to hold on to some of Nash's salary so they trade would have to be pretty good. The Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars have shown some interest in Nash.
Number 1 : Patrick Maroon LW
Patrick Maroon is a big hockey player. The LW knows how to throw his weight around and would be great as a power forward, that wont be afraid to check on any team. Currently on the Edmonton Oilers, who are taking the year off, Maroon would only be moved for something big like a draft pick. Currently we have only heard of interest by the Jets and Bruins for Maroon, 2 teams that play a big style of hockey that Maroon would do good in.
