Welcome, Students!
UNB S.P.R.I.N.G. accepts student volunteers from the University of New Brunswick, St. Thomas University, and NBCC Fredericton.
2026/27 Executive Team Applications are NOW OPEN until March 7, 2026.
S.P.R.I.N.G. sessions occur (almost) every Sunday during the academic year, except for holidays and exam periods, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Fredericton YMCA
Volunteers are required to arrive at the YMCA by 8:40 AM
In addition to the weekly Sunday sessions, volunteers will attend monthly education & training meetings on the UNB campus
S.P.R.I.N.G. is a "Gym & Swim" skill-building activity program for youth with disabilities; you will be paired with a child and will help facilitate their participation in all activities—you should be prepared to both participate in sports-like gym activities and swim in the pool.
Volunteers are required to submit an updated Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (see the FAQs at the bottom of this page for more information)
There are 2 types of volunteer roles:
Full-Time Paired Volunteers: Paired with a child every week
Rotationally-Paired Volunteers: Paired with a child biweekly and facilitate activities during the other weeks
Please note, ALL volunteers are expected to be at S.P.R.I.N.G. each Sunday; we no longer have "Part-Time Volunteer" roles
