BUILDING COMMUNITY | DEVELOPING SKILLS | SHARING SMILES
S.P.R.I.N.G. is a recreation mentorship program facilitated by post-secondary student volunteers that delivers an active environment for youth (aged 3-15) with physical, cognitive, and/or intellectual disabilities to grow their motor, social, and cognitive skills.
We host engagement sessions at the Fredericton YMCA every Sunday from 9 AM to 11 AM from September to May.
Each session includes a "Gym & Swim" portion, where volunteers engage youth in skill-building activities uniquely tailored to each child's abilities.
At S.P.R.I.N.G., we are all about growth. We focus on ability and design each activity with accessibility and adaptability in mind.
Our program provides ongoing education and training focused on disability awareness and accessible, equity-oriented recreational programming to all volunteers.
Through monthly education & training sessions and weekly implementation evaluations, our volunteers are welcomed into a collaborative community dedicated to accessible recreation programming.
Volunteer mentor positions are granted through application.
