🌟 “A great beef roast isn’t just cooked—it’s built, layer by layer.” — Ummama
For the beef:
1 kg beef (washed and cleaned)
3 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp fennel seed powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste
4 onions, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 handful of curry leaves
1 handful of coriander leaves
1 tsp black pepper
Salt, as required
For the final fry:
3 tsp oil
5 curry leaves
2 dried red chilies, cut
1 tbsp chopped coconut (small pieces, adjust as needed)
🍲 In a pressure cooker, add beef, chili powder, turmeric, fennel seed powder, garam masala, ginger paste, garlic paste, onions, tomatoes, curry leaves, coriander leaves, pepper, and salt.
🔥 Cook until the beef is tender. The pressure cooker ensures the meat absorbs all the spices and remains juicy.
💡 Ummama’s Secret: "The pressure cooker locks in flavors—you don’t get the same magic in an open pot!"
🔥 Heat 3 tsp oil in a pan over low heat.
🌿 Add 5 curry leaves, 2 dried red chilies (cut), and chopped coconut pieces. Sauté until the coconut turns golden and crispy.
🥩 Add the cooked beef and stir-fry until all the excess liquid evaporates and the masala coats the meat beautifully.
🌿 Finish with fresh curry leaves.
🍅 If you're feeling fancy, try Ummama’s signature tomato rose garnish—it’s simple but makes the dish look extra special!
💡 Pro Tip: For an even deeper flavor, let the beef sit in the masala for a few minutes before serving—it soaks up all the goodness!
🥘 Flaky Parotta—the ultimate pairing!
🍚 Ghee rice or plain rice—rich flavors balanced with a simple base.
🥄 Or just eat it straight from the pan—no judgment here.
Beef roast isn’t just a dish—it’s a celebration of bold spices and rich flavors. Whether paired with parotta, rice, or enjoyed on its own, this Kerala classic never fails to impress. Try it out and bring a taste of Ummama’s kitchen to your home! 🍛🔥
