AIChE UMass Amherst Student Chapter President
Hi! My name is Jamie Gudas, and I am the President of AIChE this year. This is my fourth year on the board, and I have seen how much our chapter has grown, not only in size, but also in community and creativity. I have helped create new events, introduce new fundraisers, and renovate our Instagram to better engage with members. We have a lot in store this year. We hope to involve more graduate students and professors. I am excited for what is ahead with our amazing board and our interactive general body members. Let’s make it a great year!
Vice President
Hi everyone, my name is Ashlyn and this is my second year on the board! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to help in leading the '25-'26 chapter, as we have so many fun events planned for this fall semester that I hope everyone will enjoy. As a whole board, one of our goals this year is to create a big sense of community with the ChemE undergrads, grad students and faculty, as well as creating a judgment-free, inclusive environment for all of the ChemE department!
Treasurer
Hi everyone! My name is Kaavya and I’m a senior chemE. This is my third year on the AIChE E-board, and I’m excited to serve as this year’s Treasurer. I’ll mostly be focusing on planning fundraisers and managing our budget so we can host plenty of fun activities, networking events, and opportunities for ChemEs to connect outside the classroom. I’m looking forward to making this a memorable year for our chapter!
Secretary
This summer I spent a few weeks in Brazil to see family and to visit some waterfalls and canyons. Later, I spent some time working at an inn in New Hampshire where I did some farm work and housekeeping.
Publicist
Hi! I'm a junior chemical engineering major with a concentration in biochem engineering. This summer, I interned at a biopharmaceutical manufacturing site which is what I hope to do after graduation! Outside of that, I like to read, hike, and bake :)
Webmaster
Hi! My name is Adam, and I am a senior chemE with a concentration in Biochemical Engineering. I am currently the webmaster for AIChE, where I help maintain the website and update it with upcoming events. In my free time, I enjoy biking, watching movies, and playing piano. I spend most of my time working in the CRIB, so feel free to reach out with any questions!
RSO Chair
Hi! My name is Hagen, I'm a sophomore and I'm the RSO Chair for this year! Academically, I'm interested in food science, water treatment, and semiconductors. In my free time I write music, play card games and read.
Academic Chair
Hi, I'm Anya! I am a junior in ChemE with a Spanish minor. In addition to being on AIChE's e-board, I am also on the e-board for the Alpha Phi Omega community service fraternity and a supervisor at Roots Cafe. I love traveling (I've studied abroad in the past and am planning on doing so again!) and am training for a half-marathon this fall. My interests include sustainability, green chemistry, and electrochemistry. I look forward to seeing what AIChE can accomplish this year!
ChemE Car Chair
This summer I worked at Conte Polymer Research Center in the Santore Research Group, synthesizing fluorescent silica nanoparticles for use as tracers in flow experiments.
Senior Class Representative
This past summer I had the exciting opportunity to be an intern at Merck at West Point, PA. In doing so, I gained valuable experience with start-up facilities and vaccine manufacturing. I worked mainly with inventory management and lead-time determination, which included some aspects of Lean Six Sigma 5S. If you have any questions about the pharmaceutical industry, vaccine manufacturing, or continuous improvement, feel free to reach out!
Junior Class Representative
I’m a chemical engineering student at UMass Amherst with a strong interest in materials science. My research experience includes working on chemiluminescence with silver nanoparticles and developing sustainable, starch-based biodegradable plastics. I’m also actively involved in AIChE, where I enjoy helping strengthen our ChemE community through outreach and collaboration.
Sophomore Class Representative
My name is Gabriel Stevens, I’m from Hingham, MA, and I’m the Sophomore Student Representative for AIChE this year! My hobbies include guitar, motorsports, climbing, and skiing. I also love traveling and studied abroad in Madrid the last fall semester! In addition to AIChE, I am also a bus driver for UMass Transit. I am very excited to be on the board this year and if you see me driving don’t be afraid to say hi!
