Hunter Marine will have a photo competition during the show. Two Runner up prizes of the Odyssey Too tender will be given as well.

The Odyssey Blue is now released. Thanks for putting up with the teasers over the past week. See full details of the boat here.
The vendors are open and the demo is functional. So far, everyone who has tried the demo has got the boat. So I'm happy that they like it. Come down and give it a go.

We sailed out of the upper latitudes and headed down into the tropics. Come and join the girls on a fun fishing trip on Odyssey Blue!
My friend Quarlo was telling me how excited he was after reading some of these posts. He said the suspense was building up, because we haven't yet seen the boat, and he referred to Jaws, where we don't see the shark for the first 20 minutes of the movie.
I was laughing reading this, whilst dipping my toe in the water...
The Project Odyssey was spotted earlier today down in Ice Bay, Laptev. A pity it was so foggy. The hull is ice rated with a 7mm reinforced aluminium hull. From the Arctic to the Antarctic, this boat will go anywhere.
We'll get the photographer to get some better photos tomorrow, promise.
Are you looking forward to Friday?
Project Odyssey comes with it's own tender, launched from a davit, that is perfect for shore excursions. A full featured 3.5m rib with a 20hp outboard. The rib even has some fishing poses, and of course you can mod it and add your own.
The tender will also be available separately for purchase. The Project Odyssey might be a little expensive for some as aluminium is not cheap these days, so the tender will become my cheapest boat available at this time.
Counting down uintil Friday launch!
Project Odyssey features a fully functional fuel system. With a 818 US Gallon (3100 L) fuel tank it can travel a considerable distance. At full speed, the fuel economy is around 0.24 g/nm (0.91 L/nm). At overdrive speed, the fuel economy is around 0.3 g/nm (1.14 L/nm ).
Using the 30 minute demo, and driving on overdrive, I travelled 49 regions from Kierna Rise to Tweendeck, an exact distance of 5.71 nm, cutting some sims at the corner etc. As you see above, the regions travelled and the exact distance traveled is logged and saved. If you take back the boat to inventory, and reuse it each time you sail, this data will be preseved and added to each time you use the boat. A great way to keep track of your travels and adventures in SL.
There is a trip log and a total log that can be independantly reset. So you can keep track of distance you sailed during a cruise for example.
I hope you have fun with the yacht when it lanches.
Counting down the days...
Project Odyssey features a highly advanced helm and manoeuvring system designed to make the yacht feel alive beneath your hands. Rather than relying on simplistic “on rails” steering, the vessel uses a progressive rudder model with animated helm response, realistic rudder angles, and dynamic turning behaviour that changes naturally with speed and momentum. At cruising speed, the yacht tracks smoothly and confidently through open water, while close-quarters handling feels deliberate, weighty, and precise - just as a real expedition yacht should.
In Second Life, the rudder angle is controlled using the Left and Right arrow keys. Unlike many SL boats, the rudder angle is held in position, allowing you to go hands-off during a turn while the yacht continues to steer naturally. To centre the rudder again, simply use the steering keys to return it gradually to centre, or press Left and Right simultaneously to centre it instantly. This creates a distinctive and highly enjoyable style of yacht handling that feels both engaging and realistic.
A dedicated Rudder Control HUD is included, allowing you to see the exact rudder angle at all times while underway.
For harbour manoeuvres and tight marina work, Odyssey Blue is equipped with integrated bow and stern thrusters, allowing the vessel to pivot, sidestep, and rotate even at very low speed. The thruster system works seamlessly alongside the rudder controls, enabling controlled station turning, docking assistance, and fine positioning during difficult manoeuvres or confined navigation. Combined with the live Rudder HUD, animated helm systems, and multiple driving stations throughout the yacht, the result is a driving experience that feels immersive, capable, and distinctly nautical rather than arcade-like.
Project Odyssey has been under development since the beginning of 2026. It will be unveiled and launched on Friday, the 29th May 2026 at the Hunter Marine Boatyard on Kierna Rise.
Project Odyssey is a modern explorer yacht for Second Life, designed for long-range cruising, remote adventures, and life aboard in demanding northern waters. Built around the character of real-world expedition yachts.
At the helm, Project Odyssey combines advanced custom systems with an immersive driving experience. The yacht is equally at home undertaking precision harbour manoeuvres, long-distance passages, or relaxed cruising with friends on board.
Life aboard Project Odyssey has been designed with the same attention to detail as her engineering systems. Spacious social areas, comfortable lounging spaces, interactive onboard features, and carefully crafted animations make the yacht feel alive whether anchored in a quiet fjord, exploring remote coastlines, or entertaining guests at marina.
Built with extensive custom scripting and a strong emphasis on realism, immersion, and reliability, Project Odyssey is more than simply a vehicle - it is a fully realised explorer yacht experience created for those who enjoy adventure, atmosphere, and the romance of modern expedition cruising.

As a surprise, there will be two new seaplanes from Hunter Marine coming soon. Keep your eyes on this website or the groups.
I asked people to tell me if they saw water in the bottom of a boat here at the Kierna Rise shop.
In the old days, the Water Exclusion Layer worked for everyone, but if you turned on the Advanced Lighting Model (ALM), then it didn't work, which was a pain as peoplewere using ALM more so they could see shadows.
Then LL dis-activated the Water Exclusion Layer as it was originally a bug.
They then brought it back as people demanded it. But now you can only see it using PBR bowsers. Pre PBR browsers don't show the layer, and people see water in the bottom of some boats who use it.
We had exactly 100 people participate in the survey, and the results are as follows:
I'm confident that we can use Exclusion layers to make boats look better. It's tricky to satisfy everyone, but I think most people will benefit.
I have asked LL to look at the idea of hiding particles using an exclusion layer too. See the update request here, and feel freee to up-vote it if you agree with the idea. Feel free to comment too.

Ultramesh Porter PC-6 Video
Ultramesh Porter PC-6 Launch

Come to Newport Bay on Saturday and see the new plane, and try a demo.
The manual is currently being prepared and can be found here: Ultramesh Porter PC-6 Manual
Ultramesh Porter PC-6 - Coming Soon
As you see, it is a Porter PC-6, one of my all time fav planes, sadly out of production in RL since 2022.
There used to be one in SL, made by Carly, and that was a fav of mine too, and inspired me to build my own.
Carly left SL, and eventually all her vendors went too, leaving a bit of a gap in the market.
I've made this Ultramesh version, true to the RL dimensions, and with a nicely detailed cockpit. I will include all sorts of features that will make it fun to fly. Today I have uploaded it to SL, and I'm happy to say that as it, right now, its around 60 prims. This will change as I need to add Physics and some more parts.
So watch this space, there will be more of this later. In terms of delay (because everyone will ask), I have to finish the base texture, then script the moving parts and cockpit. Then with my Flight Engine scripter get it flying. It will be a while before it is available.
Sunday 3rd March 2024 (Opening party 2:00 pm) to Sunday 10th March 2024 (Airshows from 8 am to about 2 pm)
