~ ACTION!- Register Your Opposition By July 2!
The League of Women Voters is asking you to register your opposition to voter suppression by mail-in ballot. Public comment is due by July 2nd. Submit your comment to: https://www.lwv.org/take-action/oppose-proposed-mail-and-absentee-ballot-regulations
The United States Postal Service (“USPS”) issued a new rule on 06/02/2026 that would establish elements of national standards for absentee and mail-in ballots in federal elections. States would have to provide USPS with lists of voters eligible to receive mail ballots for federal elections. These new proposed rules will create unnecessary barriers that prevent eligible voters from receiving and returning their mail-in and absentee ballots in time to be counted. There are many other serious concerns. Steering July 12, 4 - 5;30 NP: Membership Meeting
Join our U-Act colleagues as we plan the final touches for our Power Together event on July 18 (see following announcement). There will be treats and lots of discussion and planning. Our actions involve all of us. See you then!
Steering July 18, 10;30 NP: POWER TOGETHER
U-Act members--as we ramp up to the November election, it's time again to build POWER TOGETHER on a day when we honor John Lewis and Good Trouble Lives On. Working from the Village of New Paltz firehouse, we will write postcards and letters, phone, or canvass local neighborhoods, listening to voters' concerns in this moment of disenchantment, disengagement, and despair about our politics. Sheriff Juan Figueroa will kick off the event and walk with participants. Food, drinks, and good company aplenty. Join us for an inspiring day!
