Election Reform: BLOCK THE SAVE ACT- Acting on it now!

The SAVE ACT failed to pass last year. It was reintroduced in the House on 1/30/2026 and in the Senate on 1/29/26. This bill requires individuals to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote, requires photo identification to vote in federal elections, and produce a passport, birth certificate, or naturalization papers in every election.

Call or e-mail your Senate legislators to “vote no” to the SAVE ACT.

With President Trump attempting to nationalize elections, prevent access to voting with the SAVE ACT-requiring proof of citizenship, and finding ways to sabotage elections, we can make a difference by becoming a poll inspector.

Steering: CREATIVE WORK for No Kings day, March 28

Calling all our creative people- It will be fun, and therapeutic!

U-Act will host a table at the No Kings event in Kingston, March 28, 3-4:30 in the Academy Green park. We need a few people to create the content for the table...likely some posters on the theme of NO KINGS.

WANT TO BE ACTIVE? DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT? JOIN OUR MARSHALLING TEAM FOR NO KINGS 3 Help keep our rallies safe and fun. We hope you have fun, make some new good connections, as you make an important contribution to the Kingston No Kings 3 on March 28.

The organizers are requesting that you watch one of the Safety and Deescalation Trainings along with the Know Your RightsTraining on NoKings.org. This will be invaluable as preparation for the in person safety marshal training.

We have scheduled two in-person trainings, so please come to one (or if you would like both) of the following two trainings:

March 21st. In-person training at Kingston Library, Community Room, 61 Crown Street, 2-4:30.

Economic Justice: 3/25, Albany: Fair Share Taxing!

Advocacy and Lobby Days

The April 1 state budget deadline is quickly approaching. This month is filled with opportunities to influence the budget. We need to work to increase state revenue to stop the reduction in cuts that will impact low-income and working families in NY State.

Our focus is on the TAX THE RICH campaign to raise $40 billion annually in tax revenue. There are four tax revenue bills proposed to do this supported by the Invest in Our New York coalition bills (see attached) currently being pushed (see rationale). Lobby day is Weds., March 25 where a multi-coalition of advocates will go to Albany to lobby the Governor and the Assembly and Senate. Sign up for the 25th is not open yet.

Note there is a Mar 11 deadline for registration. Carpools are forming to go to Albany from New Paltz. Maggie Veve and others will be driving from New Paltz. Contact her (mveve7@gmail.com)for more information.
