Climate-resilient housing finance
Scoping and project design work on climate resilient housing: Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR)-Bangladesh
2014 – 2015
In this assignment for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), I designed a large-scale household survey to assess the vulnerability of housing in coastal Bangladesh. I determined the economic impact of climate disasters on the housing stock, households’ ability to pay and willingness to pay for climate-resilient housing. Based on these surveys and extensive stakeholder interviews, I designed suitable business models for the private sector (banks, housing finance institutions, insurers) to provide climate-resilient housing to low income households.

Insurance
The Indian insurance industry and climate change: exposure, corporate responsibility and strategies ahead
2005 - 06
This study, funded by the Department for International Development (DFID), UK, assessed the preparedness and exposure of the Indian insurance sector to climate change and recommended strategies for the sector. The study findings were presented to the Indian insurance industry regulatory authority and insurance companies.

National Strategy Study (NSS) on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in India
2003 – 2005
In the National Strategy Study (NSS) on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in India, funded by the World Bank and Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, I was a member of the core study team. I identified CDM project pipelines in key sectors; modelled carbon market scenarios for India using the CERT model; and conducted capacity building workshops with private sector and government officials to implement CDM projects.
CIDA energy-efficiency project: CDM component
2000 – 2003
In this project funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), I assessed the CDM potential for India in power generation, renewable energy, and industrial energy efficiency; developed CDM projects in wind energy and coal-based power and presented these to potential Canadian investors; and coordinated the work of project partners from Bangladesh, China, and Indonesia.
Integrated capacity strengthening on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in India
2004 – 2005
In this project funded by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), Japan, I organized capacity building workshops and published a handbook for sub-national policymakers in southern and western India on CDM project development and implementation.
Delhi Greenhouse Gas Forum
2004 - 2006
Organized the Delhi Greenhouse Gas Forum 2004, 2005, and 2006: an annual international CDM meet with policymakers, project developers, and carbon buyers in New Delhi, on behalf of the International Emissions Trading Agency (IETA), World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and World Bank.

Compendium for African policymakers
2012 - 2013
This United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA)-funded study involved the preparation of a position paper on strategic options for African countries to access adaptation finance. I reviewed the status of global climate finance and identified ways for African countries to enhance their access to international climate finance for adaptation and mitigation.
