What do you want to say about NOMAS?
Involvement?
Goals for upcoming semester?
“The vision I have for NOMAS is one in which it is a space for minority architecture students to be heard, to learn, and ultimately to succeed. As a minority student myself I understand how it feels to be in spaces and take courses that feel as though they aren’t designed for me. I understand how it feels to not have support and to feel inadequate as an architecture student. These emotions can lead to students dropping the major or leaving school because they feel as though all hope is lost. I believe NOMAS can fill that void in many students’ lives. It can be a space for mentorship, peer support, learning, and fun. As president of the NOMAS UL Chapter it would be in my highest interest to ensure that minority students within the architecture discipline feel like there is a space designed for them within NOMAS. We can attain this through better outreach to students within architecture and a better presence around school. I want to ensure that students not only have access to NOMAS, but are aware of the support we can offer.”
“I would make a great candidate for President because I have some experience in leadership through the LHS Swim Team as Captain and LHS Key Club as a Website builder. I also think I am ready to take more responsibility and further learn more about the inner workings of this organization by putting UL NOMAS out there and advocating for it. But more importantly I have truly grown to love NOMAS, what it stands for and the people who are a part of it. I want to work harder next semester to help NOMAS grow both in wealth and membership and am ready to work hand in hand with my fellow officers to accomplish these goals.
These qualities would also benefit in my running for vice president. I would love to work with all of the officers to help accomplish our goals and since I am more of a detail oriented thinker, it may benefit the organization to have me in a more focused role.
I am ready for whatever next year will bring!”
“I would be the best person for the treasurer position because I utilize detail-oriented thinking to budget and create mental guidelines on monetary spending. I am well-versed in communication, which would aid with the upkeep of the club’s funds and the discussion of the affordability of any said activity.”
“I was secretary for 2 years and then president for the 3rd year. I know NOMAS, am familiar with faculty, and have outside connections through NOMA LA.”
