Heather Thompson is a first-generation college student from Jackson, KY. She is a current senior completing the Pre-Biomedical Engineering route that is a part of the Biosystems Engineering major. She will be graduating from UK in December 2021 with intentions of continuing her education in Biomedical Engineering by obtaining a Master’s degree. Her career goal is to manage her own engineering firm that specializes in refurbishing discarded medical devices to achieve adequate and accessible medical devices for developing countries.
Barron Hoffman is a senior at the University of Kentucky in the Biosystems Engineering program. Barron plans to graduate with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biosystems Engineering in May of 2021. After graduation, Barron hopes to acquire his Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Kentucky. He hopes to eventually have a career in prosthetic design for a biomedical engineering firm.
Courtney Travis is a senior at the University of Kentucky studying Biosystems Engineering with a specialization in Machine Systems. Her home town is Nicholasville, Kentucky. Last year she was the captain of the Quarter Scale Tractor team, President of BAE Student Branch, and a team lead in the Entrepreneurs Bootcamp Program at UK. She will be graduating in May 2021. Some of her hobbies include: Building hot rods, wood working, motorcycle riding, shooting sports, podcasts, and REI.
Dr. Stephanie Bonin is a senior biomechanical engineer in the Injury Biomechanics Group. She works in MEA Forensic’s Los Angeles office. Stephanie analyzes injuries in cases involving automobile collisions, brain injuries, helmet protection, slip and falls, and workplace accidents.
Dr. Michael Peterson is the Director of the Racetrack Safety Program and Professor of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Kentucky. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Racing Surfaces Testing Laboratory. His research emphasis is on the manner in which dynamic response can be used to characterize materials.
