The UK Operator Algebras Prize
The UK Operator Algebras prize is awarded once every 4 years to exceptional early career researchers that have strong connection to the UK operator algebras community who have made significant contributions to operator algebras. The inaugural prize was awarded during the 2026 UK Operator Algebras conference at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

UK Operator Algebras Prize 2026
We are delighted to announce that the inaugural UKOA Prize was awarded to Chris Bruce (Newcastle University) and Samuel Evington (University College Dublin).
Chris was awarded the prize for his fundamental work on groupoid and semigroup C*-algebras. Notably, for connections between C*-algebras and number theory and for establishing rigidity for partial transformation groupoids of algebraic actions of semigroups.
Sam was awarded a 2026 UKOA Prize for his seminal work on the structure of simple nuclear C*-algebras. Particularly, the Toms-Winter conjecture, work on nuclear dimension, and principal groupoid models of Kirchberg algebras.
