We make great music. And YOU are welcome here.
The UIC Orchestra is open to all students at UIC with prior experience on a string instrument. 2-3 concerts per semester offer students a wide diversity of repertoire for both string orchestra and full orchestra. Social events, field trips, and leadership opportunities make Orchestra a fun way to make friends and get connected to college life.
The city is your stage.
Orchestra concerts are exciting at UIC! We perform at venues on campus like the UIC Theater and at spaces all over Chicago. From the annual UIC Orchestra Invitational, where we collaborate with area high schools, to the department-wide UIC Holiday Concert, which we share with choirs and bands, it is fun to perform at UIC.
A manageable workload
College can be busy--but you definitely have time to play in Orchestra at UIC. We meet for two hours, twice per week. And that's it. There are no practice requirements, extra sectionals, or playing tests.Â
Students who would like an additional challenge have lots of extra opportunities, from chamber ensembles to concerto competitions and more.
