At the No'eau Center, we believe everyone has the ability to be successful in their university education. One challenge to that success, however, might be a lack of knowledge of college expectations for original work and academic honesty and integrity. Academic integrity is a very important part of college.
In this course, you will learn about expectations for academic integrity in the college environment, including what plagiarism is, how to avoid it, and ways to give credit to sources you use in your writing at the University of Hawai'i.
Things to keep in mind as you explore this course:
- To successfully complete this course, you will need to earn a score of 80% or higher in each module, including module quizzes and the Course Final Exam.
- Do not log into your hawaii.edu email while accessing this course. Students have experienced glitches with the course when logged into their hawaii.edu email using the same browser. While taking this course, we encourage you to access your hawaii.edu through a different browser (e.g. Firefox, Google Chrome).
- The examples we provide in this workshop draw heavily on APA style because this is the most commonly used across academic disciplines. While professors in different disciplines may have different expectations for the particular way you reference sources, following the guidelines laid out in these online modules will help you to avoid plagiarism. For more information on APA style please check out Purdue OWL.
