Can we have the spreadsheets on a Google Sheet?
No. There are formulas, locked cells and other requirements for the spreadsheets to function that don’t exist in Google Sheets. Excel Online can be just as easy if you spend a few minutes figuring it out. Don’t use your school district email to create the spreadsheet – most schools can’t share outside their district. Use a personal email to login.
With so many fabric stores closing, getting access to fabric swatches for Costume Designs is getting harder and harder -- can students print a picture of their desired fabric instead?
Technically, a picture of a fabric swatch isn’t breaking the rule, but most costume judges I’ve seen are VERY particular about swatches, and you would probably lose points for not having real ones. They will likely ask questions about the weight of the fabric, the stretchiness, and complain that a picture of a swatch won’t help you see how the fabric looks under lights. So as long as your kids are prepared to hear that feedback, they won't be disqualified. We just don’t want them to feel blindsided.
Can another coach from your same classification be your Region Meet Director?
The rule states that no coach from your same classification may be your Meet Director. This is to ensure fairness across all aspects of the competition. It is possible (although we understand incredibly unlikely) for a coach from a separate region, who you will compete against at State, to make unfair rulings at your Region Meet in order to help their school's team at the future competition where you are against one another. Do we think this will actually be a problem? No, obviously not. We're not out to scheme. If you feel that you are unable to find any alternative option for a Region Meet Director besides another coach in your classification (due to remoteness of location or date of event), an email requesting the exception may be sent by the Region Rep to Missy and Giselle (mwhiteurs@uhsaa.org and giselle.gremmert@canyonsdistrict.org) with ALL region coaches CCd on the email signifying their approval of this exception.
