My name is Isabella Sanabria, and I am a third-year Public Health student in the University of Cincinnati's College of Medicine scheduled to graduate in the fall of 2028. I am concentrating in Health Education and Promotion while also pursuing a minor in Environmental Studies. As part of this work, I've also been learning American Sign Language and am currently at intermediate proficiency. My academic path reflects the way I see health: interconnected, community oriented, science based and shaped by the environment.
I'm a proud Puerto Rican American who grew up in Milan, Ohio, and my background has shaped both my curiosity and commitment to equity. I take pride in who I am, both as a student and as a person who finds joy in the world. Whether I'm spending time outdoors, traveling, dancing with loved ones, baking, cooking, or trying new foods, I'm always drawn to culture and experiences that bring people together.
Through the University Honors Program and my time at UC, I hope to explore how culture, education, and environment influence health. I'm especially drawn to health education programs, including clinical health education and initiatives that support mothers, children, families, and individuals navigating substance use, nutrition challenges, or limited access to resources. I'm passionate about finding small, meaningful ways to expand access to green spaces, healthy food options, and reliable health information. Particularly for low-income communities. As I continue to grow at UC, I'm excited to deepen my understanding of public health practice and develop the skills to advocate for accessible, inclusive, and sustainable health solutions that empower people to live healthier lives.
