In Situ Simulation at UHN
Why? In situ simulation provides an opportunity to practice low-frequency but high stakes resuscitation with a focus on reinforcing effective team communication and identification of latent safety threats.
Who? All providers in the emergency department, including nurses, staff and resident physicians, medical students, respiratory therapists, physician assistants, consulting services, and administrative staff
What? Multidisclinary healthcare providers respond to a simulated critical resuscitation using a mannikin for up to 20 minutes, followed by a debriefing period.
When? Weekday mornings up to 4 times a month.
Where? In the emergency department of Toronto General Hospital or Toronto Western Hospital
