In the interest of fairness and transparency, all Simcom members are assigned a role or portfolio.
The job descriptions are below:
New SimCom roles:
1) Simulation director: Dr. Nadia Farooki
• oversees all Chairs, organizes SimCom meetings
• creates and manages education schedule
• responsible for balancing budget and allocating SimPoints
• manages fundraising and respective meetings
• annual presentations to group and to finance committee
• manages Michener project.
• responsible for maintaining research commitments.
• Organize FRCP mock codes sign up –12 spots a year
• Organize Boot camp mock codes sign up for undergrad–12 spots a year
2) Chair of Curriculum Development - trainees: Dr. Monika Kapoor
• annual updates of mock codes for undergrad and postgrad.
• create AV material, handouts, adapt program using feedback from residents
• email staff schedule reminders and get feedback
• organize mock codes with family medicine program twice/year.
• Organize CCFP(EM) mock codes with A/I trained staff sign up - 6 spots a year
3) Chair of Faculty development: Dr. Dawn Lim, Dr. Maxim Ben-Yakov
• develop staff workshops - procedural skills, peds and adults sessions
• create needs assessment annually (need a survey monkey asap)
• CME accreditation –liaise with CME office at U of T, email CME credits to individuals, complete post-workshop files
4) UHN ED conference chair: Dr. Andrea Somers
• organizes the annual UHN ED SimCom workshops.
• equipment procurement, facility management
• assist with faculty development workshops and accreditation
5) In Situ chair: Dr. Soojin Yi, Dr. Kate Hayman
• organize 4 in situ mock codes a month (preferably 2 at TWH and 2 at TGH on Roger’s days); less than 4 a month if business meetings (9 a year) or boot camp for students (6 times a year)
• create curriculum, mixing adult and peds scenarios. Can use ideas from RN educators and emsimcases website
• obtain feedback from RNs/Steve/Brittany after each session, can use surveymonkey.
• organize labelled equipment for in situ at both sites.
• help implement QI initiatives that arise (for exemple the one Steve is currently doing)
6) IT Chair: Dr. Boon Chang
• liaise with Roger with equipment issues
• manage renewal of Roger’s contract.
• equipment procurement
• liaise with sales reps for equipment rental/purchase @ UHN
• website maintenance
7) Sim Tech: Roger Chow
• Roger transforms sim-vision into sim-reality
• scenario and model design and implementation
• equipment maintenance and procurement
