UF BMES X Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry Swabbing

  • Description: The Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry is singularly passionate about engaging the public to get everyone involved in curing blood cancer, whether as a donor, a volunteer, or a financial supporter. It all begins with one remarkable person, one life-changing swab, and one huge win: finding a match and a cure. UF BMES is partnering with them to try to build the registry on swab at a time. The registration process takes ten minutes or less, but we'll be there from 5:30-7:00PM, so stop by when you have some time. Yes, this ten minute event does give you an outreach point for the Fall semester. You do NOT need to RSVP in advance.
  • Date/Time: October 9th from 5:30-6:30PM in Communicore Building, C1-003
  • For more information, contact Aria Henderson at (904) 210-4748.

Fall Day of Service

  • Description: The Brown Center for Leadership and Service hosts an annual day of service and reflection with a variety of projects. Our organization will be registering for the Days for Girls International project. Days for Girls increases access to menstrual care and education by developing global partnerships, cultivating social enterprises, mobilizing volunteers, and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigmas and limitations for women and girls. This project involves assembling hygiene kits with both sewing and non-sewing tasks. More details regarding this project can be found on the registration page. No experience is necessary, and carpooling is available. Unfortunately, spots are filled for this project in the event. If you wish to register for another project in the Fall Day of Service to earn an outreach point, please provide proof of registration and, after the event, proof of attendance (a selfie at the work site) to Aria Henderson. We will not provide carpool for other projects. If you are participating with another group or First Year Florida class, we will honor your service with a point, but you must contact Aria beforehand.
