Extreme urban temperatures and humidity, due to a combination of heatwaves and the urban heat island effect, are now inevitable and will result in unprecedented conditions, such as reaching 45C for multiple days in London. This will cause intense human suffering from heat stress, heatstroke, and even death. 

We need to plan now to avoid catastrophic consequences later.
