EM Resources

Online resources

The Emergency Medicine Residents' Association (EMRA) maintains a thorough list of online resources for medical students interested in EM. Some of our favorites include the podcast EM:RAP, which comes free with EMRA membership, EM Clerkship Podcast, and the EM Clerkship Primer (PDF) produced by the SAEM.

Professional associations

We recommend anyone planning to go into EM join the Emergency Medicine Residents' Association (EMRA), which provides many great benefits for students and comes with free membership of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). Some of our members are also signed up to the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM), which is the academic organization within EM, and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM), another smaller association representing EM physicians with a subsection for residents and students.

Conferences

There are a few conferences that EMIG members attend most years. These include the annual EMIG Symposium at the Zucker School of Medicine at Northwell/Hofstra held in January in Long Island, NY, and the AAEM/RSA Regional Medical Student Symposia, held in the fall in New York, LA, and Chicago, where there is an opportunity to meet residency program directors. The SAEM New England Regional Meeting is also an opportunity to connect with residents and attending physicians in academic medicine in the Northeast.
