GySgt Clyde O. Harris began Marine Corps Recruit Training on 21 September 1999 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina with Company L, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion. He graduated Recruit Training on 17 December
1999. Following graduation from Recruit Training, Private First Class Harris attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Upon completion of Marine Combat Training, Private First-Class Harris attended the Basic Warehouse
Clerk Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina in March 2000.
In April 2000, Private First-Class Harris reported to Marine Corp Property, 1st Marine Air Wing, Personnel Support Detachment-36, Camp Futenma, Okinawa, Japan to perform duties as a Warehouse Clerk. He was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal on 1 June 2000.
On 1 April 2002, he was promoted to Corporal and reported to Property Control Office, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Service Company, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia to perform duties as a Warehouse Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge. In June 2004, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assumed the billet of the Warehouse Chief. In August 2004, Sergeant Harris was Temporary Additional Duty to Officer Candidate School to perform duties as a Warehouse Non-Commissioned officer to assist and supervise the issuing and receiving of gear to the Candidates for the summer cycles.
From 15 April 2005 to 14 April 2010, Sergeant Harris reported to 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit Command Element, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for duty as the Warehouse Chief. During this tour Sgt Harris, deployed with the MEU Three times as an Expeditor and Logistics Planner in support of exercises and operations in eight countries including Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, Iraq, United Arab Emirates and Jordan. He was also part of the 26th MEU when they was the first to deploy with a Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) detachment in 2007. In November 2009, he was with the 26th MEU when they stood up as Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force 26 to participated in the commissioning of USS New York in New York.
In April 2010, Sergeant Harris reported to Drill Instructor School 3-10. After graduation in June 2010, Sergeant Harris reported to Company G, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion to serve as a Drill Instructor. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 1 November 2010. During his tour he held the billets of Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Field Company Gunnery Sergeant, and Crucible Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge at Weapons Field and Training Battalion. He also served as a Senior Drill Instructor in Company E.
From 15 April 2013 to 16 June 2016, Staff Sergeant Harris reported to 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Command Element, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, California to perform duties as a Warehouse Chief. During this tour, Staff Sergeant Harris was promoted.to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and deployed with the MEU in support of operations in several countries including, United Arab Emirates, Philippines, Kuwait, Dibout, Qatar, and Operation Inherit Resolved while serving as the Logistics Planner for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit Amphibious Ready Group.
Eric R. Cole enlisted in the United States Marine Corps April 21, 2003, and completed recruit training with Company D, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Upon completion of Recruit Training in July 2003, Private First Class Cole attended Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Pendleton, CA. In September 2003, Private First Class Cole completed Military Occupational Specialty School in Camp Johnson, North Carolina. Here he learned the introductory skills to become an elite inventory management specialist.
In October 2003, Private First Class Cole received orders to Headquarters Company, 1st Maintenance Bn, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, California. Being the motivator he is, Private First Class Cole volunteered for deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in January 2004.
While forward deployed with Brigade Service Support Group-1, Private First Class Cole was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and served as the Issuing and Receiving Non-Commissioned Officer. Upon return from deployment Lance Corporal Cole was introduced to his beautiful bride Jamie. In June of 2005, Lance Corporal Cole was promoted to the rank of Corporal, decided to marry his queen, and was temporally assigned to the MEU Service Support Group-11, Supply detachment, where he deployed on WESTPAC 02-06.
In 2006 Corporal Cole was promoted Meritoriously to the rank of Sergeant and received orders to the 15th Marine Expedition Unit, Command Element, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA. Here he served as the as the Platoon Sergeant, Warehouse Chief and Color Guard Sergeant. In May of 2008, he deployed on WESTPAC 02-08.
In January 2010, Sergeant Cole accepted the challenge to help enhance the lives of America’s youth and become a Marine Recruiter. He attended the Basic Recruiter School in early 2010 and received orders to Recruiting Station Orange, Recruiting Substation Long Beach, in Long Beach, CA. As a Canvassing Recruiter Sergeant Cole faced an array of adversity. Determined to excel, Sergeant navigated the mean streets of Long Beach and the birth of his first son “EJ” and earned a meritoriouspromotion to the rank of Staff Sergeant in July 2012.
After completing a successful recruiting tour in April 2013,Staff Sergeant Cole received orders to the infamous Storage Platoon, Supply Company, 1st Supply Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA. There he served a brief stint as the Hazmat/Tires Staff Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge. In December of 2013 he received orders to Combat Logistics Battalion-11.
While with Combat Logistics Battalion-11 Staff Sergeant Cole served as the Supply Warehouse Chief and deployed is support of WESTPAC 02-14. Upon return from deployment Staff Sergeant Cole was blessed with the birth of his twins Exavier and Journey Cole. In November 2015 Staff Sergeant Cole received orders back to 1st Supply Battalion. During this period, he served as the G-Lot Staff Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge.
In November 2016 Staff Sergeant Cole was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and volunteered to fill the billet of Company Gunnery Sergeant for Medical Logistic Company, 1st Supply Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA. He served this billet with distinction and received a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal.
In July 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Cole received orders to Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group, Fort Story, VA. Here, Gunnery Sergeant Cole served as the Safety Chief and Substance Abuse Control Officer. Taking advantage of educational opportunities, Gunnery Sergeant Cole applied and was selected to partake in the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Degree Completion Program. In August 2018 Gunnery Sergeant Cole attended the historic Norfolk State University. In December 2019 he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (Cum Laude) and received orders to Headquarters & Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA.
Gunnery Sergeant Cole served as the Safety Chief for Headquarters & Headquarters Squadron until he was selected and promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant in January 2021. He then received orders, once again, to the infamous Storage Platoon, 1st Supply Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA.
For his third stint, Master Sergeant Cole served as the Rations Section Staff Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge supporting the entire I Marine Expeditionary Force with Class I assets. In February 2022 he was assigned to the Bins Section to serve as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge.
Master Sergeant Cole posses an Associates Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College, A Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Norfolk University and A Master of Arts degree in Education from Trident International University.
Master Sergeant Cole is married to Jamie N. Cole. From their union came “E.J.” Eric J.M. Cole, Exavier B. Cole, and Journey R.M. Cole.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct medal w/ silver star (sixth award).
