Rules and Eligibility

Team Requirements:

·        Teams of 2-4 students from a New Zealand secondary school

·        Aimed at Year 12-13 students (younger students must be taking Year 12-13 level maths/science)

·        Teacher/parent supervision is required on competition day

Competition Day Rules:

·        No outside assistance permitted - teams work independently

·        No contact with anyone outside the team (phone, email, messaging, forums)

·        Teacher acts as challenge supervisor only - cannot help answer questions

·        Teams need computer access with word processing and the internet

·        All teams answer the same question regardless of year level

·        AI use is permitted; however, AI usage should follow UC guidelines for responsible AI use. Submissions that are written with AI usage will be graded accordingly.

·        Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances

Submission Requirements:

·        Formal report with supporting design documents due by 5 pm

·        Winners' reports may be published on UC websites

·        Team photos and information may be used for publicity

Disqualification: Teams breaking any competition rules will be disqualified and ineligible for the prize money.
